British Open 2024: Here are all the participants (so far) at Royal Troon | Golf news and tour information

The fourth and final men’s major of the year is fast approaching, with the 152nd Open Championship taking place at Royal Troon from July 18-21. The R&A is bringing golf’s oldest event back to the historic Scottish course for the first time since 2016, when Henrik Stenson defeated Phil Mickelson in a thrilling Sunday showdown, and for the 10th time in total.

Like the U.S. Open, the British Open field is made up of a mix of tour pros and amateurs who are fully exempt from the championship due to past performance, and players who earn invitations through various qualifying events throughout the year. Additionally, 16 spots were reserved for players who compete in 36-hole qualifying events at four local courses on July 2.

So far, 149 players have qualified for the event, with two former champions (Ben Curtis and Paul Lawrie) opting not to play. Interestingly, there are still 10 places up for grabs over the next two weeks:

That would mean the field could be larger than the usual 156 players, something the Golf Channel reports last happened in 1995 at St. Andrews.
