Discover Michigan’s largest IMAX theater here

If you’ve ever seen an action movie in an IMAX theater, you’ll be hard-pressed to settle for a less compelling film. Then, if you go to a regular theater, you might be a little disappointed.

While IMAX is the most immersive way to watch a movie, not every movie needs to be seen in a larger than life format and sound system. Take “Oppenheimer” for example. When that movie was in theaters, everyone rushed out to see it in IMAX, myself included. That was a movie that felt a little underwhelming and unnecessary to watch in such a grand way.

You can find IMAX theaters all over the state of Michigan. But not all IMAX screens are the same. While most people think that all IMAX screens are the same size, that is not the case.

The only thing people can agree on is where to find the largest IMAX theater, and that is at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. The Henry Ford Giant Screen Experience is 62 by 85 feet, but some people say they rarely show Hollywood movies anymore. They usually only show educational films. No matter what they show on the big screen, it is huge. For the record, it is six stories high and eight stories wide.
