The draw for the 2024-2025 UEFA Futsal Champions League will take place on July 4 Azer News defeated.

The opponents of Azerbaijani champions Araz-Nakhchivan will be announced during the draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

Since the representative of Nakhchivan is in 25th place in the ranking, he will start the new season from the initial stage.

Based on the draw results, 32 teams are divided into 8 groups with 4 clubs each. Only the group winners (total 8 clubs) qualify for the main stage and compete in the B-weg.

The teams have already been divided into baskets. The Araz-Nakhchivan team will participate in the draw from the 5th basket.

The UEFA Futsal Champions League is an annual indoor football competition for European club teams, organised by UEFA.

The competition was founded in 2001 as the UEFA Futsal Cup, replacing the Futsal European Clubs Championship, an unofficial competition held since 1984.

The final of the first edition was played in a single match in Lisbon, while the following four editions were decided over two matches. Since 2006-07, the winner is decided by a final four tournament.

In 2018, the tournament’s name was changed to UEFA Futsal Champions League.

The 2024/25 UEFA Futsal Champions League will consist of preliminary, main and elite rounds played as mini-tournaments at a single location, and a four-team knockout final at a location yet to be determined.

It is striking that futsal is a ball sport played on a hard court, smaller than a football field, and mainly indoors. It has similarities with 5-a-side football.

The game is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlike other forms of indoor soccer, the game is played on a hard court surface that is demarcated by lines; no walls or boards are used.

Azerbaijan had never qualified for the FIFA Futsal World Cup until 2016, although national futsal players had participated in the last five editions of the European Championship.

Today, the futsal team successfully represents Azerbaijan in various international futsal competitions, such as the FIFA Futsal World Championship and the European Championship.

The team is ranked 14th in the world rankings, making it the highest ranked team from the Caucasus in the world rankings.
