‘Complex’ seems to be the general consensus when it comes to decryption Joker 2. Even though not all people who have seen the film so far are completely fascinated by the product, most people agree that the film pushes boundaries.

Some X comments are positive Joker 2read: “Unexpected, daring and mesmerizing. A small-scale film that feels so big behind the #IMAX lens. This format takes every scene astronomically to the next level. Gaga is absolutely phenomenal, and Phoenix brings it again”, “I walked away #JokerFolieADeux completely floored. Todd Phillips created a poetic and romantic love story that is brilliantly intertwined with music. Joaquin Phoenix has delivered again, but Lady Gaga is a movie star. She belongs in the Oscar conversation “This movie will definitely be divisive – and not in a simple sense of if you loved the first one, you’ll love this one. If you hated the first one, you’ll hate this one. That said, I absolutely loved it.”

Shedding further light on the film’s core content, some commenters added: “#JokerFolieADeux is a love story in its truest form. It resonates two hard truths in the best artistic way possible. They are: 1) Love makes you vulnerable 2) People tend to like a version of you, but not the full you. Joaquin Phoenix and Gaga both deserve Oscars🫡” and “I liked it a lot more than the first #JokerFolieADeux has a lot more replay value I will definitely see it a few more times only saw the first one twice, will definitely see this 5-10 times. The ending was shocking but a great time 5/5 imo”.

Spoiler warning: Joker 2 may well have a heavy hand of courtroom drama as a crucial plot point. It’s worth noting that some X-threads have highlighted that this aspect also tends to overtake the fact that the film was marketed as a twisted musical. For example, one comment read: “It’s more courtroom drama than I thought Joker and Harley would destroy the city together. That said, Lady Gaga delivers as does Joaquin. I loved the musical numbers (shocker!)”. Another comment reflected how the film actually balanced both of these facets and presented something quite unique to audiences: “#JokerFolieADeux continues its boldness from its predecessor and absolutely shatters every stereotype in the comic book movie genre. A psychotic breakdown in which courtroom drama and music genres come together like never before. Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are just 🤯”.
