Maple Leafs’ Chris Tanev signs six-year contract

Chris Tanev and the Toronto Maple Leafs agreed to a six-year, $4.5 million-per-year contract just days after the defenceman’s rights were traded to his hometown team.

Tanev, who was still an unrestricted free agent, saw his rights traded by the Dallas Stars to the Leafs on Saturday for a seventh-round pick in 2026 and forward Max Ellis.
