Milford Man Arrested for Shooting at Big Chill Surf Cantina

A Milford man wanted in connection with the June 28 shooting at the Big Chill Surf Cantina on Route 1 near Rehoboth Beach has been arrested in Pennsylvania.

Police say Jonathan Blackwell, 28, will face charges of first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon when he is extradited to Delaware.

Delaware State Police responded to a shooting report at 12:51 p.m. and learned that a 27-year-old man was in a nearby hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said a group of people were fighting in the parking lot of the restaurant when a man pulled a gun from a bag and fired one shot at the victim. After the shooting, police said, everyone in the fight fled. The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, where he was treated and released.
