Texas Football QB Reveals Longhorns as ‘Biggest Game’ Ahead of Solid SEC Opponents

Texas Football QB Reveals Longhorns as ‘Biggest Game’ Ahead of Solid SEC Opponents

In a recent interview, Texas football starting quarterback Quinn Ewers revealed that he believes Texas is the new SEC team to beat.

Ewers, who started his football career with the Ohio State Buckeyes, has been vocal about the level of competition Texas is willing to play. This past offseason saw the massive conference shakeups finally happen, bringing conferences with new, intriguing members. For Texas football, joining the ultra-competitive SEC does not appear to have dented current confidence heading into the season.

For quarterback Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns, confidence is the key to their historic first season in the SEC. The SEC is known for playing some of the best, most versatile football in the country, and any team that has played in the conference can attest to that. The SEC has also been a powerhouse in producing next-level talent and sending players to the NFL year after year.

Other conferences have proven tough, or have proven capable of producing NFL-ready prospects, as the SEC has. The real test, however, will come this year when former Big 12 powerhouses Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners enter their new conference.

Ewers, who helped the Texas football team reach a CFP Semifinal appearance last season, threw for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in his final season of Big 12 play. Now the quarterback will make a significant defensive leap when playing in a defense-centric conference.

Heading into their first season in the SEC, Texas is looking to make noise and prove to the doubters that they have the ability to compete. During a recent interview at the Manning Passing Academy, Ewers said, “We’re definitely going to be everyone’s biggest game.”

The quarterback also said, “It’s definitely a different level. I’ve always wanted to play in the SEC, I know we’re all excited to be a part of a conference like this.”

Ewers has confidence in his team and the Texas Longhorns football team is looking to make a statement after their success last season. A season ago, the Longhorns defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide to finish the season ranked best among all SEC teams.

Is the Texas Longhorns football team prepared for a tough SEC schedule?

With the success the team had last season and the huge return of quarterback Quinn Ewers, it’s hard to imagine Texas not having success this season. The Longhorns have a tough non-conference matchup against the Michigan Wolverines, but also play Colorado State, UTSA, and UL-Monroe.

The key for the Longhorns will be to take on the two toughest games on the schedule, against Oklahoma and Georgia. Both are extremely different opponents, regardless of each team’s record. If the Texas football team can at least make their test against Georgia interesting, the Longhorns should have no trouble in the SEC.
