The 20 Best Summer Movies to Stream on Max, Prime Video, Disney+, and More

Summer calls for surfing, sports, adventure and lazy afternoons in the pool or on the beach. Sometimes, when it doesn’t cool down outside and all possibilities for fun are exhausted, a summer movie is the solution. Reflecting the season of no school and maximum outdoor activities, summer movies often feature scenes of surfing, beach volleyball or other moments near bodies of water such as lakes or the beach.

Others emphasize travel, another form of entertainment in the sunny season. While this list only includes 20 films, there are a few more worth mentioning, such as Surf’s Up (2007), the Madagascar films, Summer School (1987), Midsommar (2019), Smiles of a Summer Night (1955), Summer Holiday (1963), The Deep (1977), and more.
