WGCA awards four Lady Bulldogs All-American Scholar status

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida – SWOSU Women’s Golf has named four student-athletes to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar list, the organization announced Monday.

Ashlyn Acosta, Drew Dodgen, Rebecca LauAnd Freya Sala represented SWOSU on the list. It is Lau’s fifth consecutive season earning the honor as the only golfer in program history to earn it five times. Acosta and Dodgion have now won the award in consecutive seasons, while Sala is being recognized for the first time.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are as follows:

  • Have an average grade point average of 3.50 or higher
  • Be an amateur and stay on the team’s roster until the end of the season
  • Have played in 50% of the college regular season games during the year, nominated through the team’s conference championship

Since 2012, SWOSU Women’s Golf has produced a total of 28 WGCA All-American Scholars from 14 different student-athletes.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a nonprofit organization representing women’s golf coaches at the collegiate level.
