Wonder Woman who was told she would never walk again starts the charity race

A wonderful mother-of-two who was told she might never walk again started a charity race.

Milly Hadden from Storrington was told she might never be able to have children after battling cancer, sepsis and multiple organ failure. But she defied the odds and sounded the trumpet alongside her two daughters at the Race for Life Pretty Muddy event in Stanmer Park, Brighton, on Sunday.

Hundreds of people climbed, crawled and slid around obstacles to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Milly and her two-year-old Tallulah and one-year-old Otillie cheered them on from the sidelines.

The course went through fields and forests and the participants covered five kilometers of challenging cross-country skiing terrain.

Lynn Daly, spokeswoman for Cancer Research UK in Sussex, said: “We are extremely grateful to Milly for her support and know her story will have an impact on those who hear it.

“No matter how cancer affects us, life is worth racing for. Sadly, almost one in two of us will develop cancer in our lifetime. Race For Life has the power to not only change lives, but save them .We are proud that Race for Life has already helped to double survival rates in the UK.”
